Fire First Team winger Nico Bechar has been invited to train with A-League Club, Brisbane Roar. The French national has been training with the Club since last Monday, and is relishing the opportunity.
Having been involved with football since he was nine years old, Bechar has been part of the Fire for two seasons, and has also played in France and for RSC Anderlech youth team in Belgium.
First Team Coach Kevin A’herne-Evans said he was pleased to see Bechar gain an opportunity to trial for an A-League side.
“Nico, for me, is the best player in the NPL. He certainly has the ability to play in the A-league and I’m sure if given the opportunity would thrive in that environment,” A’herne-Evans said.
“He is one of the reasons we all love football, his exhilarating style of play brings excitement to other players, coaches and most importantly, spectators.”
“It is complement that the Roar have identified the Fire for its brand of football, and is another indication that the NPL is a pathway to the A-League.”
So far Bechar has been training for about two hours each morning form 8:30am, including exercises and ball games.
“I hope I have been doing well so far but the training has really been at another level, with a lot of competition. There are three other professional players trailing this week; two from Melbourne Heat and one from the Celtics,” Bechar said.
If he impresses this week, Bechar will then be invited to participate in another trial when the Roar resume pre-season training in two weeks time.
