Fire prepares for 2015 with Macron Cup

Sunshine Coast FC’s Senior Men’s and Under 18 Boys teams will ramp up preparations for the 2015 season when they compete in the Macron Cup in two weeks’ time.

Held over 5 weekends from January 18 to February 14, the Cup provides an opportunity for the two Fire teams to test themselves against Clubs from the NPL, BPL and local leagues with games each weekend.

The Fire will compete against NPL Clubs Olympic, Palm Beach and Moreton Bay as well as BPL Clubs Mitchelton, Wolves FC and Peninsular Power and Sunshine Coast local league Club Maroochydore FC.

Fire Senior Men’s Coach Paul Arnison said the Macron Cup was ideal preparation for the season ahead.

“We normally play local clubs in pre-season, however this year we have decided on a different approach in competing in the Macron Cup. It allows us to test ourselves against quality opposition and refine our Senior Men’s and Under 18 Boys teams ahead of the 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL season,” he said.

“We are looking forward to the competition and can’t wait to get started in our first game against Peninsular Power.”

The Fire Under 18 Boys Team will face Peninsular Power this Sunday, January 18 at 1:00pm at H.A Dalton Park, while the Senior Men’s Team will also take on Peninsular Power in their opener on January 24 at 5pm at A.J Kelly Park.
