Under 18 Boys – Sunshine Coast FC (0) v Brisbane Olympic FC (4)

The U18 Boys were away this weekend playing against Brisbane Olympic at Goodwin Park.

Both teams approached the game hungry to take home the three points on offer. However, Fire found themselves under constant attack by Olympic from the kick off. The game saw Olympic having approximately 80% possession of the football and played in the Fire’s half for most of the play.

Fire conceded no less than seven corners in the first half from defending their own goals compared to being awarded two.

6’ Fire’s #11 Ben Platz concedes a foul outside the Fire’s 18 yard box with Olympic taking a Direct Free kick – no goal scored.

15’ Fire’s #3 Dane Dawson protected his zone against another Olympic attacking play which eventually lead to Olympic being called in an Offside position. The resulting free kick to the Fire saw a very tactical display by the Fire’s #11 Ben Platz to win a corner at the Olympic’s end. No result followed.

19’ Olympic concedes a foul for a heavy tackle

20’ Olympic had a shot at goals but deflected from the goal post.

26’ Olympic had another shot with a volley over the Fire’s crossbar.

27” Fire’s #9 Sebastian Festa fouled for a handball

The best passage of play for the Fire was during the 31st to the 35th minute with both teams counter attacking seeing the Fire’s #11 Ben Platz winning the second corner of the half. After a number of attempts to slot the ball into the net the Fire’s #8 Brayden Huston attempted a shot at goals with a volley from just outside the 18 yard box. No goal ensued.

28’ Fire’s #9 Sebastian Festa wins a Free Kick taken by #13 Luke Smith with a good ball to our #11 B Platz but unfortunately with no end product.

30’ An ankle tap by the Fire saw a Direct Free Kick taken by Olympic just outside the 18 yard box by Olympic’s #8 Jacob Seeto. A shot on target was valiantly defended by Fire’s #4 George Brown but ended with another sensational save by the Fire’s #1 saw the ball being deflected and conceding another corner.

41’ Olympics #10 & #11 had consecutive attempts at the Fire’s goal but Sam Porter, Fire’s lead Goalkeeper displayed brilliant goalkeeping skills during the opening 45 minutes. With stoppage time, it took a further two minutes before Olympic scored entering the second being a goal up.

The second half saw the Fire making one substitution with #14 Konrad Byasse – off and #16 Connor Morrison – On.

47’ Olympic’s #7 had an attempt at goals which went sailing over the crossbar.

52’ Fire’s #11 fouled and was awarded a Yellow Card for his troubles. Two minutes later saw Ben Platz have a shot at goals which was saved by Olympic’s goalkeeper.

56’ Fire’s #12 Aidan Ward was injured and had to briefly leave the field but saw him return soon after.

58’ Olympic’s #6 Dayan Baker scores and saw Fire’s #4  George Brown copping an injury for his defending efforts. This saw the Fire’s second substitution with George Brown (Off) being replaced by #2 Jacob Ingram – Olympic now up by two.

62’ Fire’s #11 Ben Platz was fouled winning a Free Kick which was taken by Dane Dawson. No goal ensued.

72’ Olympic’s #6 Dayan Baker scored his second goal of the day taking Olympic further in the lead up by three.

81’ Fire’s #13 Luke Smith fouled and was Yellow Carded.

85’ Fire’s #5 Ryan Edwards fouled and was Yellow Carded. Shortly after Olympic’s #6 Dayan Baker scored his hat trick taking olympic up by four.

As seen in the first half, there was an additional four minutes added for stoppage and full time saw Olympic (4) and Fire (0). Fire had limited reserves which saw them having to work hard in the first half and the second half they fell away as a result. Tough day at the office.
