Sunshine Coast FC are pleased to announce that former Matilda Liv Latimer will continue her outstanding work as Head of Female football, Liv will hold the title of Female Technical Director.
The former Matilda continues to build what is fast becoming the most envious female program on the Sunshine Coast, which will serve as a platform for the best young players to be identified for the QAS & State programs which commenced in 2019, and will continue in 2020 and beyond.
Football Queensland have confirmed that Sunshine Coast FC will be asked to nominate their best young players in every age group in 2020, which is testament to Football Queensland in placing trust in our female program.
The club has ploughed a significant amount of time and energy into re-engaging female football in 2019 after many years of unrivalled success, and continues to do so in 2020 and beyond.
Club Technical Director Melvyn Wilkes has also been working alongside Latimer in 2019 to re-establish the older teams at the club, which has seen significant growth and interest in the U15 & U18 squads.
The Fire will be fielding players in the U13’s age range in 2020, which will serve as a natural progression for the already established and successful U9, U10, U11 & U12 SAP Girls squads.
Latimer and the Fire welcome all expressions of interest from any parent / guardian who are seeking to place their child in the regions most dedicated female development program in 2020, the club do have a couple of openings in the 2010 age category, but would also welcome players in the other age ranges.
Technical Director Melvyn Wilkes commented “it is great to have someone of Liv’s calibre and experience spearheading our female development program, the club see huge value and potential in Liv and female football, and will be investing in Liv’s development, which in return will provide investment into young female footballers on the Sunshine Coast’.
