Sunshine Coast FC held reigning PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland champions Redlands United to a 1-1 draw at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Roger Hardwicke took charge of Fire for the first time and saw his team take an early lead through Damien Kallis’ 8th minute strike, only for the Red Devils to hit back before the half-hour mark.
Redlands are defending their maiden PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland title and flexed their attacking muscles to equalise, as Alistair Davis pounced on a rebound following a fantastic 15-pass sequence.
Both teams traded half-chances in the second half but neither side could steal a win.
Redlands host Brisbane Olympic next week while Fire make the trip west to visit South West Queensland Thunder.
8′ – GOAL FOR FIRE – Jez Lofthouse finds Damien Kallis near the six-yard box and Kallis clips a smart finish past Denver Crickmore.
24′ – GOAL FOR REDLANDS – Alistair Davis pounces to put away a rebound after the Red Devils string together a 15-pass sequence.
41′ – CHANCE FOR FIRE – Kallis fires from the edge of the area but Crickmore is up to the task.
47′ – CHANCE FOR FIRE – Nanthawat Magee takes aim at the top corner from 12 yards but narrowly misses his target.
55′ – CHANCE FOR REDLANDS – Matthew Gordon creates space in the box but sails his effort just wide.
87′ – CHANCE FOR REDLANDS – Davis spurns a perfect chance as he gets on the end of a cross but his volley from six yards goes over.
