Kyan Bryant is a true example of Sunshine Coast FC’s elite football pathway in action, from the Elite Academy to the PlaysStation® 4 NPL Queensland.
Kyan has been playing football since he was four years old in various community clubs until he trialled for Sunshine Coast FC’s very first Elite Academy in 2013.
Kyan continued to develop and grow as a footballer for two years in the Elite Academy until this year with the announcement that Sunshine Coast FC had been granted a licence to run the Skills Acquisition Program on the Sunshine Coast.
He was successful in trialling for the SAP program and further developed his skills throughout 2015.
“I loved being at Elite Academy and SAP; the coaches taught me a lot, like better passing, shooting, control and being able to run with the ball better,” Kyan said.
In addition to his success in Sunshine Coast FC’s developmental programs, Kyan has participated in almost every school holiday camp since he came to the Club.
“I’ve made some great friends and had lots of chances to get out onto the big field at Sunshine Coast Stadium. The camps have been awesome, especially the world cup tournaments,” Kyan said.
Kyan’s mum, Alinda commends the Club’s coaching staff for their approach to development coaching.
“Fire have offered Kyan a lot of opportunities for a variety of training with experienced coaches throughout the last three years,” Alinda said.
“They have pushed him out of his comfort zone and not allowed him to become complacent or too familiar with one coach,” she added.
He has also been awarded a scholarship for the next three years through Sunshine Coast FC’s partnership with Peregian Beach College.
Kyan is now set to make his mark in the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland after being selected for the 2016 Under 12 Boys team.
“The different styles of coach training has been excellent in developing him as a more rounded player and ultimately allowing him to become part of an NPL team in 2016,” Alinda concluded.
