Under 12 Boys – Brisbane City FC (2) v Sunshine Coast FC (4)

Some nice first touches then Kane Gibbs having a shot on goal two minutes to which rattled City but sprayed it to the right.

Jake Rocker crossed to Gibbs in the 4th minute who heads to Kyan Bryant who in turn heads a shot at goal but was saved by the City keeper. Fire’s attack in City’s half was too intense and Sam Klein put Fire on the score board in the 7th minute. The restart saw Fire come out solid yet again.

An unlucky touch from Fire in the 15th minute saw City run onto the ball from 20 metres out and drive to goal and score. There was another great cross from Rocker to Bryant in the 20th minute was saved by the City keeper.

Ben Nassiep made a great save in the 23rd minute following some great passing by City at the top of the box. Gibbs sent a great pass to Bryant who took it straight through the middle to goal and scored just before half time.

Fire made a strong start again in the second half and Gibbs beat the keeper to make it 3-1.

A great corner from Klein into the box and unlucky for City it came off their own player and into the net. City made a last ditch effort an managed to score in the 57th minute after a defensive error by Fire.

Under 13 Boys – Brisbane City FC (6) v Sunshine Coast FC (0)

Under 13 Girls – Gold Coast City FC (1) v Sunshine Coast FC (11)

Within the first 2 minutes of kick off, Fire played the ball straight up the field to Mikayla Wrigley who then crossed the ball to Audrey Upston. Upston set the ball up for Courtney Brunner who then easily placed the ball in the left corner of the goal. Fire lead 1-0.

Fire again quickly got the ball forwards to Tamika Banks, she played the ball wide to Emily Roach who then crossed the ball to Weckert, who then struck the ball and found the net. Fire 2-0 up.

A Gold Coast City goal keeper error saw Roach with the ball to her feet but was denied by the goalkeeper, the ball then came into the path of Weckert who managed to place the ball past the keeper again to bring Fire up 3-0.

Gold Coast had a break down the wing and Amelie Von Muench gave her best efforts and cleared the ball out of play to safety. The ball came back into play and a foul was given against Fire on the edge of the box. The Gold Coast players pulled off a great strike and the ball found the net over the top of Charlotte Lutz. The score now being 3-1.

Fire immediately reacted to this and the ball was played out wide to Roach from Tia, Roach saw Wrigley unmarked in a great position. Wrigley turned with the ball and managed to score. Fire leading 4-1.

Roach was in possession on the half way line, she crossed the ball to Brunner who had a one on one with the centre back, cut in well across the keeper and placed the ball in the goal. The half time whistle blew seeing Fire leading 5-1.

As the second half commenced Fire were in control of possession and easily managed to get the ball forward. Fire was awarded with a corner, Weckert crossed the ball deep into the box, Gold Coast were unable to defend which meant that Upston found it easy to contact the ball and find the goal. Fire lead 6-1.

Gold Coast lost possession straight away from their kick off, the ball was cleared up the field from Sommer Jordan to Weckert. Upston ran into the box unmarked and Weckert easily crossed the ball to her, Upston struck the ball and again found the net. Fire lead 7-1.

The ball was in Gold Coast’s defensive line, they attempted to clear it but Roach blocked it and Weckert managed to finish. 8-1 to Fire. The ball came straight to Jordan’s feet after the kick off and she cleared it to the other end of the field. Brunner ran onto it on the edge of the box and found the net. 9-1 to Fire.

Shortly after, Banks and Kiara Hillier played a great passing combination in the wide area. Hillier saw Brunner in the box, crossed the ball and scored again. 10-1 to Fire.

The Gold Coast goal keeper made an error in a risky area, leaving Roach to be in possession of the ball, the keeper was off her line so Roach hit the ball and found the net. The final whistle blew and Fire had yet another successful game winning 11-1.

Under 14 Boys – Brisbane City FC (2) v Sunshine Coast FC (1)

Fire started strong and in the 9th minute a Luke Varga turnover found Alistair McMillan but the City keeper did a great job to do a double save. Sam Fleming did well to win possession and find Beardsley who shot flew over the cross bar. City had their best chance to score in the 34th minute with solid struck shot which was well taken by Croft.

A nice combination work from Rory Stenhouse and Trent Watkins in the 36th minute allowed Beardsley to move the ball onto Varga, whose shot at goal went to the right of the post.

Fire had another opportunity in the 37th minute when Sam Fleming won possession again, but his final shot on goal was pushed wide. Fire continued to look dangerous from a length of field play. Unfortunately their shots on goal were pushed wide.

Fleming made good contact with the ball from a Fire free kick, only to see it pass over the cross bar. City looked dangerous on 45 minutes before the ever present Boyce once again diffused the situation. Coming into the 50th minute, Boyce once again made one of his dominant runs down field, before finding Varga, whose shot at goal was well saved by the keeper.

City’s Chris Morseray mopped up after some scrappy play inside the box to open the scoring in the 55th minute.

Morseray scored for City once again in the 61st minute after he received the ball inside the box, turned and hit the ball wide of Croft for a 2-0 lead.

Boyce finally got his just rewards with a great run upfield and into the box, before laying off a great ball to the waiting Beardsley in the 69th minute.

Player of the Match: Brodie Boyce. Boyce stood out with his defence and attacking qualities and a well-earned goal assist.

 

Under 15 Boys – Brisbane City FC (4) v Sunshine Coast FC (4)

Sunshine Coast Fire started a tough and exciting match against Brisbane City in fine fashion with a goal scored after just 35 seconds.  Some good pressing forced the City defence into a mistake, and Tom Whittaker found Nathan Thompson who tapped in for his first goal of the season.

A free flowing match saw plenty of early chances, with both sides trying to play some good football.  A free kick from out wide saw City equalise as a ball was whipped in to the front post and fell to the City striker who duly put the ball in the net.

Fire almost took the lead back immediately, with a fine move through the midfield releasing Kaelen Debbage whose shot shook the cross bar.

On 21 minutes Fire took the lead with the best move of the match. An excellent combination down the right between Keegan New, Budd Baulbys and Harry Arnison saw Baulbys produce a fine pass to Kaelan Debbage who finished well.

It didn’t take long for City to hit back as a gap in the centre of defence was exploited, and the one on one with the keeper was well finished.

City began to pile on some pressure at this point, but some good defending kept the scores level, while a Lochie Tolpitt shot from 35 yards went just over the bar in the dying stages.

After an enjoyable first half, both sides upped the intensity in the second half to produce an exciting game of football.  Fire started brightly and a nice long ball from Harry Fletcher picked out a great run from Tom Whittaker and his cross was put just wide by Kaelan Debbage.

Nathan Thompson then had a good header saved, before City had their own chance that was brilliantly saved by Eligh Williams, who continues to do a fantastic job in one on one situations.

Fire were winning the midfield battle and were slightly the better side, but a mix up at the back gave City a 3-2 lead in the 56th minute.

In the 69th minute Harry Arnison got in behind the City defence and his angled run saw him bundled over in the box.  Arnison then stepped up and belted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-3.

A good header from Harry Fletcher went just over in the 73rd minute before Fire took a deserved 4-3 lead with a fine Lochie Tolpitt header after a fantastic ball in from Jordan Meredith.

Fire looked to have done enough to grab the three points, but in the dying seconds a City corner wasn’t dealt with and in the ensuing scramble the ball was put into the net to end an exciting match at 4-4.

Under 16 Boys – Brisbane City FC (3) v Sunshine Coast FC (4)

Right from the kick off SCFC broke through the middle with Terone Wattegedara passing it wide to Taj Suffolk, Taj gave a great cross to the back post and Kurtis Modlin hit it into the net for a fantastic start.

Brisbane City FC attacked through the middle of the park and a through ball was received by Rhys Jones and took a hard shot that came off the top bar and bounced back out but the Referee was advised by his linesman that the ball had crossed the line.

Kurtis was brought down in the area box and Taj capitalised from the penalty spot to put it down low past the keeper.

By the 30th minute both teams were playing a fast tempo pace game and both defence lines were working hard to keep the opposition from controlling the game.

A long ball was kicked over the whole defence Sunshine Coast Fire and Rhys latched onto the ball dribbling towards the goals and kicked it past the keeper to score Brisbane’s second goal.

Taj dribbled and took on the defence of Brisbane City and then passed a great through ball onto the running path of Terone who was one v one with the keeper and kicked it past him into the corner of the goals.

Brisbane City pushed forward down the left the wing and the cross was headed hard past the keeper for a great goal.

The goal came from a free kick that was crossed into the box by Mitchell Bridge and Bailey Waern headed the ball down low into the corner of the goals.

It was a great performance by both teams but Sunshine Coast fought so much harder to grind down the game for a well-deserved away win.
