Sunshine Coast FC’s newest coach is on the Coast and already preparing for pre-season training.
Former Glasgow Celtic AFC youth coach Gareth Thomson was announced as the new Head Coach of the Under 18 Boys, Development Academy and SAP two weeks ago.
Thomson, fresh off the plane, wasted no time jumping into training last week and was formally introduced to club members on Saturday at Fire’s Annual Presentation Night.
On stage, Thomson expressed his excitement and gratitude to be working with the level of players at Fire.
“From what I saw at training the other night, I know big things are going to happen next year with the 18s squad,” he said.
“I’m keen to start working with Richard and Melvyn to strengthen our Senior section in the coming season”
Thomson has a wealth of experience in youth development and with him comes the return of Fire’s powerhouse youth development academy.
Thomson will be overseeing the Skills Acquisition Program and Development Academy for trials over the next two days and throughout 2019.
