Sunshine Coast FC is offering a unique training opportunity for local school children to kick-start their football skills.
Goals 4 Kids is an IGA sponsored free football skills program delivered by Fire coaches into local schools.
Public and private schools across the Sunshine Coast and in the southern Wide-Bay and far northern Brisbane areas are all eligible to register for this fantastic program.
Goals 4 Kids introduces children from Prep to Year 7 to the basics of football through drills, practices and games. The program covers coordination, motor skill development, hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, the fundamentals of the game, balance, sportsmanship and rules and regulations. Most importantly, Goals 4 Kids also aims to instil in the children a love of sport in a fun, active environment.
Sunshine Coast FC technical director of coaching, Kevin A’herne-Evans, said the program would help children learn about leading a healthy, active lifestyle.
“What we are looking to form is a life-long passion for sport,” he said.
“Following the success of the Fire during the last five years at state level, SCFC is continuing its development of the game at grass-roots level and is proud to be involved in the IGA Goals 4 Kids program.
“We’re promoting the development of a healthy lifestyle through football and this is a fantastic initiative from Hyundai, IGA and Football QLD.”
In addition to the sporting benefits provided through the program, Hyundai is offering commercial incentives for participating schools. Education workers from participating schools are eligable for fleet pricing, and for every vehicle purchased by a participating education worker, Hyundai will also donate a bag of soccer balls to their school.
The Goals 4 Kids coaching program can be delivered during school PE lessons, over a period of four to five weeks. Sunshine Coast FC is offering this unique opportunity for schools from term one to four during 2013.
