Gary Newcome signs as U20 Head Coach

The Fire are delighted to welcome the highly experienced Gary Newcome as our new u20s Head Coach and Assistant Senior Coach for the 2019 season.

Gary brings with him a wealth of experience both playing and coaching in the Sunshine Coast and his native England.

Starting his career as a youth player with former English Premier League side Wimbledon, Gary went on to coach within their community arm along with playing semi professionally in the lower leagues.

For the last 14 years he has held Head Coaching roles with Maroochydore and Woombye winning numerous league titles and plaudits. For the 2018 season Gary took charge of SC Wanderers U18 side where he won the league and championship final.

Gary spoke about his new role with excitement and said “I’m looking forward to the new challenge this upcoming season and hopefully playing a part in re-establishing the Fire as the main side on the Coast”.

Senior Head Coach Richard Hudson expressed how vital this appointment will be for the season ahead.

“I’m very excited to bring Gary onboard to the senior management team for the new season. Gary brings with him a great network and wealth of experience in local football and we can’t wait to get going next weekend” he said.
