Match Guide #6 | SCFC v OFC

From the Technical Director.

Welcome to our visiting teams from Western Pride, Moreton Bay & Lions in our Junior boys SAP program season opener, whilst our Junior NPL Boys entertain Redlands United, and our U18 – Senior Men take on Olympic FC.

It’s great to get the season underway for our SAP squads, with our girls taking the field next weekend.

Our Junior NPL boys continue their excellent start to the season, with some excellent results on the road last week V SWQ Thunder, long may this continue, and testimony to how successful our youth program continues to be.

Our Senior squads went so close again last weekend, with heartbreak in the last minute of normal time for our Senior men.

All Senior squads are performing really well on the road, hopefully that will continue with our performances today, good luck to all teams.

Obviously it is now well noted that we have now commenced expressions of interest for our 2020 trial process. If you are interested in trialing for the Sunshines Coast’s premier club, please get in contact.

We also have limited spaces available on our April school holiday program, again please visit our website and or Facebook page to secure your space.

Please head on to our business directory if you are looking for a local business to satisfy your every need, from buying a car to writing a will. We have you covered in most aspects of business. Please support the businesses who support Sunshine Coast FC.

Enjoy the football

From Our Head Coach

Today we welcome Brisbane Olympic to our home ground, which is sure to be an exciting encounter against this years title favourites.

The last two weeks have been really promising for us, with the boys work rate and effort particularly pleasing.  Our young players are coping with the step up to NPL level which is great to see.

The performances allowed us to grab our first point against Brisbane Roar and then challenge a very strong Gold Coast Knights side all the way before unfortunately conceding a last minute goal to lose 2-1.

It is the type of effort shown in those two matches that will go a long way to helping us achieve our goals this season.  Olympic will provide a really stern test.

They have a side full of quality and we look forward to testing ourselves against what many believe is the leagues strongest side. Let’s try and cause an upset!

Enjoy the game,

Mitch

Captain’s Thoughts

It was a bitter one to take on Saturday with goal coming in so late in the game after the boys continued last weeks work ethic and desire on the road.

Our goal is to now show composure and show our attacking potential, starting with Olympic this weekend.

See you there,

Scott Ferries

Under 18’s

It’s been a tough week for the boys. On Wednesday night we made the drive down to Brisbane City in what we thought would be a hard but winnable game.

The result couldn’t have been further from that, we were routed firmly 7-0. A lot of things went wrong for us that night and we all came away feeling disappointed as we didn’t show our potential.

As a coach I’ve unfortunately been in this situation once or twice before, I believe the reaction will show the character and mental strength the boys have. I have full confidence in the team to bounce back and hopefully this can be a well learned lesson in their journeys as footballers.
