Sunshine Coast FC is pleased to announce the signing of local league standout Sam Standish ahead of the NPL Queensland 2018 season commencement.
Standish has been a mainstay in the Sunshine Coast McDonald’s Premier League for the past two years with Nambour-Yandina United FC.
Sunshine Coast FC Assistant Coach Alex Smith continually heard Standish’s name while recruiting players and encouraged him to attend training.
“Being new to the coast, Sam’s name was one that kept coming up in conversations with various people that I trusted,” Smith said.
“We had him down to training and we liked what we saw. It’s a big step up for him and he seems to be handling it well. Another young lad we hope to develop and move onto the next level.”
Standish feels that he is ready to take the next step in his football career.
“I feel like I bring a good work ethic and a strong desire to win every game. I want to challenge myself at NPL level and I like what Alex and Ali want to achieve with the team,” Standish said.
He relishes the challenge of playing against high quality sides every week and strengthen his football foundations.
“I want to establish myself as a strong first team player and gain the experience of playing and training at this level every week,” he concluded.
