Sunshine Coast FC Under 16 Boys goalkeeper Josh Wall is yet another Fire player to be invited to train and play on a representative team in the last month.
Wall has been invited by Football Federation Australia (FFA) to the Australian National U17 Team (Joeys) Training Camp.
Wall is one of 13 players in 3 countries to receive the invitation to the training camp from FFA.
“I’m really excited to be given such a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to being able to test myself against such skilled players,” Wall said.
The training camp, which takes place from 16 to 19 June at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, is in preparation for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in October.
If selected for the Joeys squad, Wall will make his way with the team to compete in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Santiago, Chile.
Sunshine Coast FC Under 16’s coach Justin Mayes was thrilled to hear that Josh had been invited to train with the U17 national team.
“Josh consistently performs well, works hard behind the scenes and his technical abilities shine through, it’s nice to see him be rewarded for his efforts,” said Mayes.
“Josh is a natural leader, something I believe any goal keeper must possess to achieve at the highest level and I’m sure he will be one to look out for in the future.”
Chile will mark the 12th time Australia has participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, previously placing 15th in 2011.
