Sunshine Coast FC Under 16 Boys defender Keegan New will be on his way to New Zealand in two weeks to attend the U17 NZ World Cup Training Camp from 5-9 December.
During the camp, New will undergo pre-selection training in the hopes to be one of 18 players selected for the New Zealand U17 All-Whites team.
If successful, New will compete in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup in India which will take place from 6-28 October 2017.
The 15-year-old expects to be put through his paces throughout the week-long camp.
“I think the different training styles will be a bit of a challenge, but I’m really looking forward to learning some new skills,” New said.
The opportunity to be part of an All-White team is particularly special for New.
“My dad was an All-White defender and I would be very proud to follow in his footsteps & represent NZ,” he said.
“I’m very excited to be selected to be part of NZ training camp and I think I’ll perform well.”
