Sunshine Coast started with the more intent between the two teams, after Cameron Nairn volleyed from outside the box to miss the goal narrowly. Senior Men player Jed Zanos combined well with Luke Devitt and Jordan Irwin. Sean de Chastel, Nairn and Irwin all combined to work a Nick Taylor shot which rattled the crossbar. Brisbane Strikers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute after a through ball found the striker who deceived Aaron Smith in goal with a well-timed volley. A similar chance followed straight after kick-off from the goal and served as a warning sign for the Sunshine Coast. The Brisbane Strikers finished the half of as the stronger team following multiple set-piece attempts.
Nairn started the second half with a drive into the box to force a corner which led to a Taylor shot. Luke Marker kept the Sunshine Coast in the game after multiple saves. In the 73rd minute, Sunshine Coast equalised via substitute Rhyan Scriggins, a Jordan Vieira tackle and dribble lead to Isaac Watson crossing to R.Scriggins who volleyed into the corner. Jordan Lloyd linked up with Nairn to work the Brisbane Strikers goalkeeper. Brisbane Strikers received a Red Card with five minutes left to play. In the 86th minute, combination in midfield led to R.Scriggins crossing to Lloyd who finished near post and sparked mass celebrations on the bench.
Player of the Match: Jordan Vieira was the difference after coming of the bench to control the midfield and perform key tackles during key moments during his time on the field.
