ANNOUNCEMENT – 16 AUGUST 2017

GRIEVANCE TO BE LODGED AGAINST FOOTBALL QUEENSLAND BOARD MEMBERS

SKILL ACQUISITION PROGRAM  (SAP)

FEMALE PROGRAM

Mr Noel Woodall, the Managing Director of SCFC today announced that SCFC is currently preparing a Grievance to be lodged against the conduct of the Football Queensland Board in the decision made by the Board to strip SCFC of its SAP Licence.

The Grievance is being lodged against each member of the Board.  The Grievance will also include the decision of the Board to strip SCFC of its Woman’s Licence.

The Grievance will also encompass other decisions made by the Board members which impacts upon the Club.

Mr Woodall noted that the lodging of a Grievance is a requirement under the Football Queensland Rules prior to the taking of legal action.

He stated that Football Queensland, through its Board has failed to provide any reasons at all for the Club to be stripped of its SAP Licence and none of substance in the case of the Women’s Licence from Football Queensland.

He went on to say, there had been no prior criticism or consultation concerning the decisions and that it was very baffling when one considers the great success the Club has had in having both its female and male players selected for representative duty and progression into A‑League squads.

He said the Club although a Regional Club had more junior players selected for Representative duty and the A-League than any other regional Club in the NPL and most of the City Clubs.

He also noted that Football Queensland issued SAP Licenses to other NPL Clubs where the level of success was nowhere near that achieved by SCFC.

Mr Woodall went on to note that the Club had to go to extreme steps to have the SAP Licence issued in the first instance, including the employing of a specialist academy coach from the English Premier League to launch the program.

Mr Woodall noted no other Club was required to go to this length.

He also stated that the Club believed the decision both in the case of the Women’s Licence and the SAP Licence needs to be explained by the Football Queensland Board.  He said “Clearly, the Club had invested heavily in developing a successful SAP Program and Women’s Program with the full knowledge of Football Queensland”.

Mr Woodall said it is simply not good enough for the CEO of Football Queensland under the direction of the Board to send a letter to advise the Club it was unsuccessful in its application for a SAP Licence when an application process had not even taken place.  Also, there had been no consultation at all by Football Queensland Senior Management or the Coach responsible for the Football Queensland SAP Program.

Mr Woodall went on to advise “That the Club has in the interim joined in partnership with Sunshine Coast Fire FC Academy to assist that Academy to deliver NPL development football”.

The new Academy has engaged SCFC Coaches involved with SAP to operate the program.

More information to follow shortly.
