Asian Cup on display at Stockland Stadium this Sunday

The prize for the biggest football tournament ever to be held in Australia, the Asian Cup, will be on display at Stockland Stadium on Sunday for the Fire v Brisbane Strikers game day.

Football fans will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their photo taken with the AFC Asian Cup trophy on site between 10:00am and 4:00pm, while they watch the Fire take on long-term rivals the Brisbane Strikers!

Sunshine Coast  Mayor Mark Jamieson officially welcomed the Cup and AFC Asian Cup 2015 committee to the Coast for a brief visit today ahead of their return on Sunday.

Stockland Stadium has been selected as one of four possible venues to host a pre-competition camp in Queensland for the Cup in 2015. This would mean the international teams (four of which are competing in the World Cup currently) would be visiting the Sunshine Coast and training here.The Asian Cup is Asia’s biggest football competition and Queensland will play host to  seven games, including six group matches and a quarter final in Brisbane.
