Four of Sunshine Coast FC’s young footballers have been named among the best in the State for their age group. Goal keeper David Payne, striker Jesse Gibbs and midfielder Oliver Duncan have been selected as part of the 2013 Under 13 Boys Metro Queensland State Team, and midfielder Mitch Bridge has been selected as a shadow player.
The boys have been training in the Skill Acquisition Program twice a week since May, ahead of selection for the Metro Team.
Under 13s NPL Coach Alex Barlow said he was thrilled to have four of his team members named as part of the squad.
“I am really happy for the boys. They are all dedicated players and very deserving of selection,” he said.
Sunshine Coast FC Technical Director Kevin A’herne-Evans said he was also extremely pleased to see the talented youngsters selected in the Metro State Team.
“We are very proud as a Club to have David, Jesse, Oli and Mitch involved with the squad; it is reward for their hard work throughout the year,” he said.
“I would also like to congratulate Under 13 Boys NPL Coach Alex Barlow for his efforts in improving his players’ technical ability.
“We have a number of players involved at State level from our Under 12s, Under 13s and Under 14s boys’ and girls’ squads and this brings satisfaction that the Fire will continue to develop quality players.”
The boys will now continue training with the Metro Squad ahead of the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.
