Sunshine Coast Fire defender Sam Knight attributes his side’s recent resurgence to a growing bond among his team mates.
Knight said the extra-curricular activities his team had undertaken were a key change brought in by new coach Kevin A’Herne-Evans.
“We catch up all the time and I rate these guys as some of my best friends,” Knight said.
“We get together as a team for dinners and things like that, which gives us the opportunity to get to know one another personally. I much prefer that than just turning up to training and seeing these guys at the game, because when your teammate is a mate, you will go that extra mile for them on the field.”
