Welcome to the first home game of the 2017 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season and the first game of Sunshine Coast FC’s 10th season.

Today is shaping up to be a great day of football as we have the Under 18 Boys, Senior Men and the debuting Under 20 Boys against Redlands United FC in the Sunshine Coast Stadium.

The Under 18 Boys kick off the day at 9.45am. Many of our Under 18s have been with the club for a number of years and it’s great to see them progressing closer to senior football.

The Senior Men kick off at 2.00pm. The squad has undergone a number of changes with a new-look line up and Roger Hardwicke at the helm. Roger has been putting a great team together over the off-season and they are motivated to make a statement in the season opener. Roger and the Senior Men face a challenge with the 2016 NPL QLD Premiers so it will be an exciting one to watch.

Best of luck to everyone today.

Warm regards,

-Noel Woodall

Welcome to our visitors from Redlands United for our Round 1 Senior Men’s fixture, with our new Senior Men’s head coach Roger Hardwicke the club have taken a very different direction and approach with Senior football.

The club owners have invested heavily over the years in putting together a Senior Men’s squad, the club took the decision then to switch a large proportion of that investment into the junior section, which has paid dividends having produced no fewer than 33 players who have progressed to High Performance, State, A-League and National teams in late 2016, early 2017.

With this, the club wants to demonstrate that the NPL is a true and clear pathway for juniors to progress into Senior NPL football.

It is clearly evident looking at the rosters today, that the club has taken the stance it has to ensure the NPL on the Sunshine Coast is used for its intention of producing players to progress to the next level.

With a new recruitment strategy that is now firmly in place, the club has a seamless system that enables and ensures player movement and progress from within.

The successful implementation and delivery of the residential program in January 2017, gave me the chance to work with all players from U12’s – U20’s.

The Skills Acquisition Program has strengthened again as we look to build on 2016’s success.

The girls NPL program looks stronger than 2016, with a lot of time invested into the female program in the closed season.

The boys NPL squads have enjoyed a solid start to the 2017 season, as we look to move forwards with the player development program.

The Development Academy is now in the final stages of being revamped, with the launch of the new program ready to be rolled out, to ensure that the pathway is clearer into SAP and NPL for 2017 and beyond.

We still have the schools program delivered by Glenn Page which is a free initiative funded by the managing director.

We are also launching an exciting new program as part of our talent identification and outreach programs, which will assist in our recruitment strategies for player into SAP and NPL for 2017 and beyond.

New staff for 2017:

Nate Giabardo U12’s Head Coach
Craig Cannock U16’s Head Coach
Glenn Page U18’s & U20’s Head Coach
Scott Smith U18’s & U20’s Assistant Coach
John Cannock Head of Player Recruitment

We are once again running our very successful April Holiday Camp from Monday 10th – Thursday 13th April so register now to avoid disappointment.

Enjoy the games.

From the Senior Men’s Coach

[quote align=”center” color=”#hex”]

Pre-season is now behind us and first up we get to play against last year’s Premiers Redlands United.

I would like to welcome all the players and the coaching staff from Redlands for this afternoon’s game.

It has been a challenging pre-season for the players with a lot of new faces plus another new coach, but they have responded in style and embraced the new playing philosophy while striking up a good camaraderie amongst each other. We suffered a few injuries early on but on the eve of the season everyone is at last fit which provides me with a nice selection problem to have in regards to finalising a starting eleven.

This season marks our first with an 18’s, 20’s and Senior Men teams in the NPL which everyone is excited about. It provides a better pathway for our younger players to transition into our First team players of the future.

Understandably we expect today’s game to be a tough challenge but as with every game we play this season we will be looking to get a result. We have a fantastic stadium to play in and home form is crucial if we want to be competitive in this league. Lets hope we can start the season off the right way for our first win of season as well as put on an entertaining game for all our spectators.
