Welcome to the SWQ Thunder to the Sunshine Coast for today’s match.
Our last three matches have seen a significant improvement and the team has made huge strides in its competitiveness as our defence has tightened up and we are now creating chances just failing to take them. We are striving hard to get a result and if we can keep the same intensity up over the remainder of the season we will get some points on the board.
Last weekend against Redlands we played well took the lead and if we had taken one of the chances we created to go 2-0 up it would have been a different story. Then finding ourselves 3-1 down we didn’t give up got back to 3-2 and once again created the chances to level and Redlands only scored in injury time as we pushed hard to score. If we can go out with the same attitude and intensity today then hopefully we can come away with the points and our first win of the season.
Lastly I would like to congratulate the Sunshine Coast Wanderers in their successful bid to the new QPL league and hopefully in a couple of seasons we can both be battling in the NPL and showing why the Sunshine Coast produces the best footballers in Queensland.
Thank you,
-Roger Hardwicke

Sunday’s game against The Gap is one tough fixture that every season, every team in the competition has to battle. They have some great players who have gone on to bigger and better things and they have a wealth of experience.
We are a team lacking experience and have been on the end of some tough results this season but my girls are in good spirits and are always up for a challenge. We just need to keep learning from our mistakes and then hopefully we can achieve something quite special.
We have had numerous injuries and players out this season and it’s been difficult, some games we’ve only had the bare 11 but I believe I have a great squad, lead well by Cassie and we will be up for this on the weekend. This game will have some good football on display. Let’s go Fire!!
