Statement from the Managing Director

Statement from the Managing Director

It has come to the attention of club management that some persons pursuing their own agenda have been making defamatory statements concerning the renewal of Sunshine Coast FC’s PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues Licence in 2017.

Clearly, these comments are being circulated by persons who have absolutely no idea of the NPL review process.

It is not hard to identify that Sunshine Coast FC has been very successful in the development of the youth pathway.

In addition, Sunshine Coast FC:

  • has the best facilities in the League;
  • has had great success with player selections into State and National teams;
  • has the most experienced and qualified Technical Director in the League; and
  • is one of a few NPL clubs with an Advanced Coach Instructor on staff.

Apart from the above, Sunshine Coast FC has performed all of its contractual obligations with Football Queensland since the inception of the QSL and then the NPL.

In the process of performing the club’s obligations over the years, millions of dollars have been injected into the game by Sunshine Coast FC with the blessing of Football Queensland.

Football Queensland has not, at any point, suggested to club management that the club’s licence is under threat.

Clearly, Sunshine Coast FC management is of the view that it has both a moral and a legal basis to retain the club’s NPL Licence.

Accordingly, the club’s backers are continuing to plan and invest in the development of the club for 2017 and beyond.
