Under 18 Boys – Moreton Bay United (6) v Sunshine Coast FC (0)

Friday night saw the boys travel down to South Pine Fields to take on mid-table Moreton Bay for their second encounter this year hopeful of an improvement over previous 6-0 loss. Both teams wore black armbands and a minutes silence was honoured before kick-off in respect of the late Les Murray

The game kicked off with Fire taking it to the home team with shots at goal for both Platz and Huston in first two minutes.

First chance for Moreton at 3’ being comfortably taken by keeper Porter.

7’ and Fire threaten again with free kick taken by Dawson punching deep into Moreton box to be taken into hands of Moreton keeper.

13’ GOAL MORETON BAY – Run down right wing crossed into attacker Jones who despite determined Fire defence managed to sneak one into net

16’ GOAL MORETON BAY – Long ball though centre and run through backs for Licciardello to release a snap shot that just clipped inside of post to find Moreton’s second

21’ GOAL MORETON BAY – Through ball to Moreton attacker to take on keeper 1v1 for Licciardello’s second.

33’ GOAL MORETON BAY – A scrappy period of play with crossed balls to and fro across the  Fire box before Licciardello knocked in his third

37’ GOAL MORETON BAY – Home team relentless with another run down the right and cross into centre for goal to be knocked home by Jones for his second of the night.

44’ Fire threaten in last play of the half with Festa making long run before being shut down by the centre backs.

HALF TIME: Moreton 6 – Fire 0

Fire returned to the pitch after the half time break, and it would be hard to recognise them as the team who just played in the lacklustre first half. Possession remained even with both teams trading blows for remainder of game.

47’ & 65’ – Shots on goal by Moreton well save by Fire keeper Morrison.

70’ CHANCE FIRE – Free kick taken by Huston from 18 yards flies just high of the crossbar.

Fire boys remained determined though the second half for it to remain scoreless for both teams.
