Today is a very sad day for myself and many of us here at the Fire as it is the first Fire game day without the support of Glen Mahoney.
Earlier this week Mr Glen Mahoney, our Club’s first operations manager and greatest supporter, lost his battle with cancer.
This true gentleman was admired and loved by so many people he came into contact with at the Fire.
Glen and I spent much time together in his many roles working for our family business.
He said to me recently, his greatest joy in working for us was his time at the Fire. He made himself invaluable to the Club, best mate to staff, volunteers and players.
Glen passed away with his treasured Fire scarf hanging in his hospital room.
Glen will always remain a true legend of the Fire and I am sure that many people whose lives were touched by Glen will feel the loss that we feel today.
We salute a true Fire Hero.
May you rest in peace dear friend.

Our penultimate home game has Western Pride visiting the Stadium today. Last weekend was a catch up weekend so the players are eager to get back out on the pitch for a competitive match. The Pride have made a couple of additions through the season and since a great draw with the Strikers back in Round 12 have only lost once since moving into finals contention so we are expecting a tough match today.
The team played well against the Strikers and despite losing we created numerous chances but some good defending, saves, post and crossbar all had a part in preventing us from scoring. The following week against the Roar we scored first and had a couple of great opportunities to take a 2-0 lead which might have changed the game.
We failed to capitalise and once the Roar equalised they pushed on to take a 4-1 lead. A sensational free kick from Jez Lofthouse made it 4-2 and for the next 10 minutes we pressed hard for a third goal but were caught on the counter which effectively sealed the game for the Roar.
With four games left the players are still training hard and keen to try and get that win before the season finishes. We look forward to your support today and appreciated you coming to watch.
