It is with heavy hearts we advise that our club’s inaugural operations manager, great supporter and friend lost his own personal battle on Tuesday. Glen Mahoney was the “go-to-man” for any task at our club, from its very establishment in the QSL in 2007 until his early retirement two and a half years ago. His passion and commitment saw him travel with Fire players, teams and officials to where ever they were playing, even internationally!
Glen was delighted to receive a new Fire jacket this year and proudly displayed his Fire scarf, even having it with him in his hospital room during his final week. He spoke fondly of the time he had spent working at Sunshine Coast FC. He said the period at the Fire had been very special, not just because of his enjoyment of the actual work, but also the many Fire staff, volunteers and players he felt close to. Glen was interested in any snippet of information on former players, especially those who advanced their football career. He was also pleased to learn of weddings, children and graduations. Glen will be sadly missed by all of us.
We send out condolences to his wife Deb, their children Shelly, Josh & James, their partners and Glen’s grandchildren.
Rest well, our Fire Hero.
