I would like to welcome everyone to the Sunshine Coast Stadium today for Round 5 of NPL football.

Today we have the Under 18s and Under 20s getting the day underway from 9.45am onwards.

Both teams have had some difficult fixtures in previous weeks but the inclusion of a couple of the boys in the senior squad has given them some valuable experience.

The Senior Men headline the day at 2.00pm against top ranked Olympic FC. It will be a tough game and the senior team will have to put to use everything they have learned in the past four weeks.

Warm regards,

-Noel Woodall

A warm welcome to our visitors from Olympic FC for our Round 5 fixtures for our Senior Men, U20’s Boys and U18’s Boys.

After a couple of challenging fixtures in previous rounds, the coaching staff and the players have been working extremely hard to pull things back together as our squad continues develop.

We are a club that prides itself on the production of players from the junior sections male and female, and as such, it is this bold approach in which we have taken, which now sees the club placing faith in our junior players and the sprinkling of new Senior players, as we use the competition for its intended use, which is to develop players for the nation of Australia.

I’m sure from local point of view, parents / guardians, siblings and spectators feel more encouraged that the club have taken this approach, and will support this developing squad throughout the season and beyond.

The club continues to build the culture that is required and is fundamental at this level of competition.

Our junior girls have started the season really brightly, our U13’s Girl’s remain undefeated in more than 20+ fixtures, and our U15’s are now chasing the front two of the current U15’s NPL ladder both with convincing victories over Eastern Suburbs last Sunday.

The vast majority of our junior boys had a very productive day last Sunday with victories for our U12’s, U13’s U14’s U15’s Boys v Moreton Bay, our U16’s falling just short in another competitive fixture. All junior boys are away at Olympic FC.

Good luck to all juniors.

Finally our Senior ladies kicked off their campaign last Sunday, the ladies following the same path as the men in bringing the younger players through, Tom and Mel have done a great job thus far.

Don’t forget that our April School Holiday Camp is fast approaching, don’t forget to register your child.

Best wishes,

-Melvyn Wilkes

From the Head Coach

While our first two matches were encouraging, the last two have unfortunately ended up in defeats. The team learnt some lessons from the Gold Coast loss and was playing quite well in Townsville until a sending off just before half time. The second half did not go to plan and the quality of the teams in NPL shows that if you don’t work hard and keep focussed for the full ninety minutes then you will get punished.

With each week the players are learning and becoming more accustomed to what is required to compete at the Senior NPL level. The next two weeks will certainly be a good challenge. This weekend we face Olympic who are currently top of the table followed by a trip to Brisbane to face the Strikers. The lads have been training well and are looking forward to testing themselves against two of the top sides in the league. Our philosophy as always is to play to win with an attacking brand of effective possession based football.

The players and I look forward to seeing you Sunday and appreciate the fact that you take the time out of your weekend to come and support us, thank you.
